A studio portrait (full-length) of Albert H. Maynard depicted in his role as a taxidermist taken at a photographic studio attributed to Mrs. R. Maynards Photographic Gallery, part of a portfolio of individual and group studio portraits of the Maynard family. It is a gelatin dry glass plate negative (10x12 inches). The studio flooring (geometrical pattern tiling), studio accessories including furniture (shelving, chair, ladder), props (bird specimens) and scenic backdrop (parlor scene by a window and fireplace and large painting) are visible. This image depicts a wider view of the portrait studio. The side edge of the scenic backdrop is visible revealing a view to the back of the room. A door is visible, as well as the wallpaper on the back of the room. There is an alternate studio backdrop rolled up on top of the backdrop in use. This negative has been manipulated (e.g. there are touch ups in [pencil], including around the face, neck and eyes of Albert Maynard)
