A chased gilt metal rectangular strut frame with pierced ribbon cresting and continuous border of lotus leaves. Frame contains a hand-coloured photograph of Queen Victoria. Photograph is of a full length portrait of Queen Victoria standing, facing three-quarters to the right. She looks ahead, away from the camera. She holds her arms in front of her body. She is depicted wearing a crown and dark velvet dress with a sash.
 
Queen Victoria wrote about the sitting for Clifford in her journal: 'photographed for the Queen of Spain by Mr. Clifford. He brought me one of [her portraits], taken by him' (14 November 1861).
