Alexander Meyrick Broadley How we defended Arßbi and his friends: A story of Egypt and the Egyptians, Second edition (London: Chapman and Hall, 1884), p.401 and discussing a meeting with Osman Pacha Ghaleb.

While sitting on a sofa in his office, and discussing his coffee and cigarettes, he showed me a drawer full of photographs of Arabi. He said that a few days^previously, "acting on superior orders," he had destroyed over a dozen negatives in the different photographers' shops in Cairo, and seized some thousands of printed copies; but in spite of all this the portrait was still being reproduced all over Egypt. He protested he was quite unable to understand it: "Arabi had failed what could the people want any more with Arabi ? "
