Robert Adams (1937, 8 May - ) was born - US, NJ, Orange. American photographer who has explored with a view camera the relationship between the changing environment and humanity. He captures with clarity the growth of suburbs, shopping malls and the rape of the lands by deforestation. 
  
Don Loving (1902, 8 May - 1973, November) was born - US, MO, Kirksville.  
  
Georg Muche (1895, 8 May - 1987) was born - Germany, Querfurt. German painter, printmaker, and author. Mystical and abstract images that evolved into figurative later in his life. 
  
Francis Bruguière (1879, 16 October - 1945, 8 May) died - UK, London. American experimental photographer working with multiple exposures and abstracts. 
  
Iain MacMillan (1938, 20 October - 2006, 8 May) died - Scotland, Dundee. Scottish photographer best remembered for his photograph of the Beatles on the zebra crossing that was used for the "Abbey Road" album cover. 
  
Herbert Matter (1907 - 1984, 8 May) died. In 1932-1936 he designed the photomontages used as advertising by the Swiss National Tourist Office. He emigrated to the USA in 1937 and found work as a freelance designer and photographer for ‘Vogue‘ and ‘Harper‘s Bazaar&More... 
  
Eadweard Muybridge (1830, 9 April - 1904, 8 May) died. Worked in America for 40 years, photographing the Pacific Railway, Yosemite, Panama & Guatemala (1875) as well as a terrific series of panoramas of San Francisco.
