Fred Boissonnas (1858, 18 June - 1946, 17 October) was born - Switzerland, Geneva.  
  
Anton Stankowski (1906, 18 June - 1998, 11 December) was born - Germany, Gelsenkirchen. German photographer, graphic designer, and painter. 
  
Vaclav Zykmund (1914, 18 June - 1984, 10 May) was born. Czech avant-garde photographer, painter, art critic. Founder of the Surrealist group Ra in Brno. 
  
Samuel Butler (1835, 4 December - 1902, 18 June) died - England, London. British author, painter and photographer. Although best known for his writings such as Erewhon (1870) and The Way of All Flesh (1903) he was also a photographer of considerable talent.
