Warren De la Rue (1815, 18 January - 1889, 19 April) was born - Great Britain, Channel Islands, Guernsey. British photographer and astronomer. 
  
Peter Magubane (1932, 18 January - ) was born - South Africa, Johannesburg, Vrededorp (now Pageview). One of the great African photographers. 
  
Jay Maisel (1931, 18 January - ) was born - US, NY, Brooklyn. American contemporary photographer. 
  
Lucia Moholy (1894, 18 January - 1989, 17 May) was born - Austria-Hungary, Prague. Wife of László Moholy-Nagy but independently she was a very accomplished photographer and writer.
