A well illustrated catalogue for the 2004 photographic exhibition at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibition covers 38 photographers who are represented in the outstanding collection of the museum - most are well known and they cover the period from 1842 (three years after the announcement of photography) right the way through to Diane Arbus in the 1960s. Each photographer has a page of explanatory biography and three example prints. Most of the photographers are well known but two Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey and Henry P. Bosse were new to me.
