I have been interested in photography for many years and developed a website that is bringing together information on the history, themes and techniques
(luminous-lint.com).
As I have been preparing this I have been considering ways in which the expertise of collectors and connoisseurs of fine photography can be brought together as a coherent and focused resource.
There exist on the web many isolated resources but these fail to create a community of experts and, even though each of us knows the key people, books and societies in our own specialties, far more could be done to promote information exchange. What I'm creating on this website is not another bulletin board that dies because of a lack of traffic but an integrated and evolving body of work that highlights material in ways we would not always expect.
To start the system rolling I've initiated a project that deals with photographers, themes, timelines and other resources - but the real benefits of the system will become apparent when you become involved.
This invites you as a person with world-class acknowledged expertise and knowledge in the history of photography to take a preliminary look at the progress to date. I estimate that it will take another one or two years before the material is really solid but I would welcome your feedback and what you would like to see included.
