Recording his wife, growing children, and their petty-bourgeois surroundings in Lucerne, Switzerland, his photographs include images of a rag doll hung on a door handle, deck furniture at night, a fur-trimmed baby outfit lying on the bathroom floor, or a little boy surrounded by garden hoses. Banz, in his words, captures images "of those moments when coincidence and keenness of eye coalesce to discover the mystery of reality in its strange polysemy."
