Following the path la id out in his 20 volume magnum opus, The North American Indian, geographic regions are presented separately and individual tribes within each region are depicted and described. With The North American Indian, Curtis achieved the impossible: an extraordinary 20 -volume set of handmade books composed of nearly 4,000 pages of text and 2,200 images presenting more than 80 of North America's Native nations. About the Author
Christopher Cardozo is acknowledged as the world's leading authority on Edward S. Curtis. He is the author of five previous titles on Curtis and has curated, lectured on, and written about his work for nearly three decades. Cardozo was trained as both a lawyer and a photographer and his own photographs of Native peoples have been widely exhibited. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Aspen, Colorado and owns a gallery in Aspen specializing in the work of Edward S. Curtis. |
