From Publishers Weekly
An Armenian who immigrated to Canada as a child in 1924, Karsh is perhaps best-known for his portrait of an angered Winston Churchill, taken moments after the photographer plucked the prime minister's cigar from his mouth. That picture and 200 others are included here, and "even critics of Karsh's theatrical lighting style should be stirred by this dramatic cumulative portrait of a cultural lifetime," PW stated.
